This guide explains how to recover your MPC wallet using a Recovery File on Google Drive.
Unlike traditional wallets, Stavax uses MPC (Multi-Party Computation) technology to enhance privacy and security. This technology splits your private key into three separate shards, eliminating the need for seed phrases and offering a more secure and user-friendly account recovery method.
To access your MPC Wallet in Stavax, you need 2 out of the 3 encrypted shards:
Shard stored by Stavax (verified via your linked social account)
Shard on your personal device
Shard stored in Cloud (Telegram Cloud or Google Drive)
When to Use: If you log in with the same Telegram account on a new device, such as a new mobile phone or the Telegram app on a desktop.
How It Works: Your MPC wallet will be automatically restored.
Steps to Backup:
Option 1: Backup to Telegram Cloud during Account Creation The first time you use Stavax, on the "Complete Account Setup" page, select the option "Backup to Telegram Cloud for effortless recovery."
Option 2: Backup to Telegram Cloud from Settings If you didn’t select the Telegram Cloud backup option during account creation, you can still back up later in Settings.
On the Settings, select Account Backup.
In the Shard Stored section, tap the Backup button next to Telegram Cloud.
When to Use: If you log in with a different Telegram account or access Stavax through the website.
How It Works: You can manually restore your MPC wallet by using both your linked Google account and the recovery file stored on Google Drive.
Steps to Backup:
In the Linked Social Accounts section, tap Link now and choose the Google account you want to link.
In the Shard Stored section, tap Back up now to save the recovery file to Google Drive.
Choose your Google Account and grant permissions (if needed). After authentication, return to the Stavax bot on Telegram.
Enter your set password to encrypt the Recovery File, ensuring that others cannot access it even if they have the file.
Wait 2-5 seconds for the system to create and save the file to your Google Drive.
Important notes
Do not delete, edit, or rename the folder or file containing your Recovery File.
If you've modified the folder or file, you won't be able to process recovery.
You can re-download the Recovery File as long as you have wallet access.
If your backup is saved on Telegram Cloud, your account will automatically be restored on a new device.
If not, follow these steps:
The system will direct you to the Recovery page. It has already retrieved one shard from your Telegram account.
Tap "Select" in the "Shard stored on Google Drive" section and choose the Google account where you previously saved the "Recovery File" and grant permissions. After authentication, return to the Stavax bot to proceed.
Enter the password to decrypt the shard
Wait for the recovery process to complete (5-10 seconds).
Select "Recover your account" button.
You need to enter both shards to regain access:
Shard stored on Stavax: Select the Google account that was previously linked to Stavax. After authentication, return to the Stavax bot to proceed.
Shard stored on Google Drive: Select the Google account where you saved the "Recovery File" and grant the necessary permissions. After authentication, return to the Stavax bot to proceed.
Enter the password to decrypt the shard.
Wait for the recovery process to complete (5-10 seconds).
"We can't find the shard. Please try again." error:
This error occurs if the Recovery File does not exist or has been moved, renamed, or deleted.
If you still have wallet access on another device, go to Settings -> Account Backup and try re-downloading the file.
"We can't recognize you. Please try again." error:
This error occurs when you use a Google account that is not linked to your Stavax account.
If you still have wallet access on another device, go to Settings -> Account Backup and check the correct Google account
Forgotten password:
You can not proceed with the recovery process without the password.
If you still have wallet access on another device, go to Settings -> Password and verify the correct password.
Recovery process stuck after 5 minutes:
Ensure that you have a stable internet connection.
Close and restart the Stavax bot, then attempt the recovery process again.
I deleted the Telegram app but want to regain access to my Stavax account.
Stavax account can only be accessed via Telegram currently, so you'll need to reinstall the Telegram app.
I have a new phone and want to access my Stavax account.
Install the Telegram app and log in with the account previously associated with Stavax.
My Telegram account has been banned. How can I access my Stavax account?
Create a new Telegram account.
Open , go to Settings, and select Account Backup.
Open the and tap "Start app".
Open the and tap "Start app".
After reinstalling Telegram, open the and follow the recovery process outlined in "Using Your Current Telegram Account" above.
